Train Manners

Japanese people place great importance on manners.

When riding the train, please observe the following rules: sit close together, place your luggage on your lap or on a shelf, avoid talking on your cell phone (set it to silent mode and be careful of sound leakage when using earphones), refrain from loud conversations, refrain from eating or drinking on the train, and offer up your seat for priority use. On the platform, line up behind the yellow line, wait for passengers to get off before boarding, and squeeze toward the back of the train when boarding.
